Oh my gosh, you won’t believe what happened! General Jay and Greg were so pumped about The New America being the 20th anniversary album that Jay was like, “We gotta call Brett!” He was like, if we’re gonna do this anniversary thing, Brett has to be a part of it. And guess what? Brett Gurewitz was totally down for it! Even though he had left the band and had a tough time with some slip-ups, Greg reached out to him and asked if he wanted to contribute a song. And that’s how “Believe It” came to be, it was like an icebreaker for them.
So, here’s the crazy part. Brett was busy producing Rancid and Bad Religion, and Todd Rundgren was recording in Hawaii. But they still managed to make it work! They sent a CD of the track to Westbeach Recorders, and during a break from recording the Rancid record, they flew the track to a Studer 827. And guess who played the solo? Brett himself! He rocked it on a Les Paul through a mix of Marshall Plexi, 900, and 800. They recorded the track hard left and the solo hard right back to CD. Then they sent it back to Todd Rundgren.
But here’s the bummer part. Brett wasn’t exactly thrilled with how things turned out. He wasn’t feeling Todd Rundgren’s spin on it. He still liked a lot of stuff on the record, just not what happened with his song.
Man, what a wild ride! Can you believe all the twists and turns in this story? It’s like a rollercoaster of emotions.

I’ve been lurking on that site for over 20 years and if you’re into Bad Religion as much as I am, I’m sure you’re familiar. If you are not, go there right now and never come back to this site again. You should, and I totally understand.
