Origin Watch-o is like a burst of excitement and playfulness, similar to “sitcow / sitgow” and “Ya Hey”. Jay explains that during the recording of Suffer, they had a phase of ending words with ‘ow’, so instead of saying “hey Brett, what’s up?”, they would say “heow Breow, what’s ow?”. This phase influenced the creation of Watch Out, which was originally meant to be “watch out”, but ended up becoming “watch ow” (watch-o) among other variations. In March 2001, someone asked Greg to write Watch Out on his T-shirt, but Greg wrote Watch O instead, emphasizing that it was “watch o” and not “watch out”. Greg also explains that “sitow” means “SIT DOWN” because their audiences are always standing. The songs included in Watch Out are Pessimistic Lines, Henchman, No Direction, Struck A Nerve, Better Off Dead, Mediocrity, Victory, Drunk Sincerity, Tested, Kyoto Now!, Avalon, and The Island.
