Oh my gosh, you won’t believe how much Greg idolized Todd Rundgren when he was a kid! His album A Wizard, a True Star was like his absolute favorite, and Another Live by Todd’s band Utopia was super important for Greg’s own musical style. Bobby even said that Into The Unknown was very Utopia-like, so if you’re a Todd Rundgren fan, you’ll love it! Todd was also the producer for The New America, but it seems like not everyone in the band was a fan of his style. Greg noticed some negative traits in Todd, but he still admires his talent and considers him a friend. Greg even said that all those rumors about Todd being difficult to work with were just nonsense. He’s a secure egomaniac himself, so he didn’t let Todd’s personality bother him. They actually got along great and had a lot of fun together. Todd challenged Greg to be clear in his music and not be afraid of change, which was really valuable. But not everyone in the band felt the same way. Some of them had some pretty harsh things to say about Todd, like calling him talentless and questioning why he even produced The New America. It’s clear that working with Todd was a controversial experience for Bad Religion, but Greg still looks back on it fondly.
