In 1993, during their European “Recipe For Hate” tour, Bad Religion and their crew faced off against the support band “Abwaerts” and their crew in a soccer match at the Stadtpark in Hamburg. The Bad Religion team rocked white shirts, while Abwaerts sported black shirts with white print. Brett, Jay, Graffin, and Hetson all played their hearts out, while Bobby enjoyed the game from the sidelines.

Moving on to 1994, during the European “Stranger Than Fiction” tour, Bad Religion and their crew took on some lucky fans who won a competition held by the local newspaper “Hamburger Morgenpost (MOPO).” This match was played on a real soccer field, with players donning authentic soccer jerseys. The jerseys had numbers and the names of Bad Religion tracks on the back, like “1 – Incomplete” and “2 – Leave mine to me.” Greg Graffin proudly wore the #13 shirt representing “Inner Logic.” In addition to these jerseys, the band and crew had regular t-shirts made for those who didn’t participate in the game. The game was a close one, with Bad Religion winning by a narrow margin thanks to Graffin’s impressive scoring skills.

Finally, in 2000, on August 31st, there was a charity match at the Millerntorstadion in support of the passive members of FC St. Pauli in Hamburg. Bad Religion and some veteran stars of FC St. Pauli teamed up to play against the club’s third team. However, only Jay and Greg Hetson from the band took the field, while Brian and Bobby enjoyed some beer and watched from the sidelines. Unfortunately, Bad Religion lost with a score of 2:4. Jay’s response to the game was lighthearted, saying, “I think I’d better stick to playing ice hockey, I’m better at that. But it was for a good cause, especially since we raised some money for charity.”
