In a wild and enthusiastic way, let me tell you about this awesome story! So, after the total flop of Into the Unknown, things were looking pretty bleak. Greg G. was off at college in Wisconsin, Jay had actually quit the band, and Brett had left Bad Religion to pursue other musical endeavors. But then, something amazing happened! Lucky Lehrer, Jay, Brett, and Duncan Scrymgeour joined forces to create a new band called Elements of Colour. Can you feel the excitement building? Well, hold on tight because this ride doesn’t last long. Sadly, the band only managed to play one gig, which happened to be a crazy drug party at Lucky’s place. Talk about a wild time! But then, disaster struck. Brett got arrested and thrown in jail, and that was the end of the project. But wait, there’s more! They actually recorded a few songs, including one called “The Young Lions”. Jay remembers those days fondly, saying that Brett’s songwriting was like a mix of Kurt Vonnegut and Kraftwerk. They even had a drum machine and a cool name, Elements of Colour (with a ‘u’ because they were fancy like that). Most of the time, they just hung out at Brett’s place, smoking Lucky Strikes and having a blast. But eventually, Brett managed to book some studio time in Hollywood. Frank Agnew and Allen Stiritz may have even joined in on the fun. Jay’s memory is a bit hazy, probably because he was super high most of the time. But hey, at least he remembers playing Ms. Pac-man! And that, my friends, is the wild and crazy story of Elements of Colour. Rock on!

I’ve been lurking on that site for over 20 years and if you’re into Bad Religion as much as I am, I’m sure you’re familiar. If you are not, go there right now and never come back to this site again. You should, and I totally understand.
