Guess what? Bad Religion, the awesome band, recorded their very first demo in January 1980 at Studio 9 in Hollywood! They were so excited about it that they started handing it out to all their friends, including Lucky Lehrer. And guess what else? Lucky got invited by DJ Rodney Bingenheimer to be on his show on KROQ (Rodney on the Roq), and he took the tape with him! Can you believe it? He actually played the demo on the show and introduced Bad Religion to all the listeners! How cool is that? The tape got played quite a bit on KROQ in the following weeks. And get this, all the songs from that original demo ended up on their first EP. But wait, there’s more! Jay, one of the band members, had a cassette of the original demos, but it got stolen out of his truck in San Francisco when they were playing at a club called the Music Works around 1990. Bummer, right? But don’t worry, because before they released their first EP, they recorded a second demo at Fortress. It had probably around 5 songs on it. So, there you have it, the exciting journey of Bad Religion’s early demos!
