So, this place has been around since 1957, and it’s seen some seriously epic live shows. Like, we’re talking about the first performances ever by legends like Buffalo Springfield, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, James Taylor, Elton John (his first U.S. show, can you believe it?), Cheech & Chong, Tom Waits, Billy Joel (his first LA show, too!), Pointer Sisters, Metallica (their first LA headlining show, wow!), Guns N’ Roses, Pearl Jam (after they changed their name), Fiona Apple, and Mumford and Sons. Like, seriously, all these incredible artists have graced the Troubadour stage!
But wait, there’s more! The Troubadour has also hosted some super secret shows. Like, in 2005, Coldplay debuted five songs from their album X&Y there. And get this, on Valentine’s Day 2011, Dave Chapelle did a secret stand-up show. And even Prince himself played two secret shows in May of that same year. How awesome is that?
Oh, and let’s not forget about Bad Religion. They kicked off their “30 Years of Suffer” tour at the Troubadour on May 2nd, 2018. And guess what? They played the entire album for the first time ever! Talk about a historic moment!
