Paha Uskonto

Oh my gosh, you won’t believe this! General Paha Uskonto, which means Bad Religion in Finnish, was this totally awesome band that formed around 1993. They were made up of five super cool guys named Sakke (the vocalist), Läppä (the guitarist), Aku (the bassist), Tune (the drummer), and Hra Teppis (the lead guitarist). Hra is Finnish for Mr, by the way. These guys were so pumped about Bad Religion that they even took their crossbuster logo and flipped it upside down. How rad is that?

Their main goal was to rock out to Bad Religion songs in Finnish because, get this, Bad Religion hadn’t even visited Finland yet! As they played shows all over Finland, they became known as the ultimate Bad Religion cover band. Their live setlist was insane, with over thirty Bad Religion covers. Can you imagine how epic that must have been?

In 1994, they started thinking about releasing a CD. And guess what? They actually got the legal rights from Epitaph and Bad Religion themselves! Talk about a dream come true. They released the CD later that same year through Fight Records. Can you say rockstars?

Now, here’s where things get a little bummer. When Bad Religion finally made it to Finland, Paha Uskonto was supposed to open for them. But for some reason, it never happened. Can you imagine how disappointed they must have been? It’s no wonder they ended up breaking up around the end of 1994. They were just so frustrated that they couldn’t open for their idols.

But hey, let’s not dwell on the sad stuff. Let’s celebrate the amazing music they created! Some of their tracks included “Digitaalimies” (which is their version of “21st Century Digital Boy”), “Tuhannen Taalan Tanopää” (their take on “1000 More Fools”), “Aika Kuolla” (their twist on “Watch It Die”), “Leukaluu” (their awesome rendition of “Best For You”), “Lähtee Pois” (their rockin’ version of “Walk Away”), and “Hulluus” (their kickass cover of “Sanity”).

Man, I wish I could have seen these guys live. They were the ultimate Bad Religion tribute band, and I bet they rocked the stage like no one else.

I’ve been lurking on that site for over 20 years and if you’re into Bad Religion as much as I am, I’m sure you’re familiar. If you are not, go there right now and never come back to this site again. You should, and I totally understand.
