Let’s Do It

Hey, guess what? “Let’s Do It (Let’s Fall in Love)” is an awesome song written by the talented Cole Porter way back in 1928. It was first performed in the musical “Paris” that same year. But wait, there’s more! The amazing Greg Graffin actually recorded a cover version of this song with the legendary Joan Jett for the soundtrack of the 1995 movie “Tank Girl.” How cool is that? Thommy Price and Tony “Bruno” Rey, who are both from Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, played the drums and bass, respectively. But here’s the twist – Atlantic Records didn’t give the thumbs up for Greg to sing on the track, so they replaced him with Paul Westerberg from the Replacements for the movie version. Bummer, right? But don’t worry, in 2000, the “original” version with Graffin and Joan Jett was finally released on the compilation record “Laguna Tunes.” Woohoo! (References: Thompson, Dave.
