Jay was so pumped and hyped when he spilled the beans about how they started up Epitaph and totally rocked it with BR. And let me tell you, this dude never once thought he was cool for doing it. Can you believe that? Everyone on the outside kept trying to hand them this DIY flag, like “Hey, you guys are so cool, so indie!” But Jay was like, “Nah, man, I don’t want that damn flag. I ain’t gonna fly it, I don’t give a damn about that stuff. I’m doing this because I gotta, not because it’s cool.” And you know what? The whole band felt the same way. They were just a bunch of total geeks and losers, and they owned it.
