Hey there, Bad Times was this awesome newsletter that BR sent out to all their fans who wrote to them. They’ve been collecting mail addresses since way back in 1986! This newsletter was their way of keeping in touch with their fans and it was published on their website, www.badreligion.com. The band, especially Greg Graffin, did most of the writing for Bad Times. It’s also known as “The official occasional newsletter of Bad Religion”. The purpose of the newsletter was to give fans some insight into what’s going on with Jay, Greg, Brett, Greg H., and Bobby, as well as to announce upcoming tour cities, offer special merchandise at discounted prices, and maybe even give out special ticket advances and passes to shows. How cool is that?! The first issue came out in the summer of 1994 and the last one, issue #11, was released in June 2001. You can read all the issues on the Media – Bad Times page. Oh, and guess what? Some of the issues even have essays and lectures written by Greg Graffin himself! Like the “Punk Manifesto” essay from December 1998 (in issue #10), the “Web-Surdities” essay from December 1998 (in issue #9), the “Fast Food and The Music Industry” lecture from December 1998 (also in issue #9), the “Punk Synopsis” essay from January 1997 (in issue #6), and the “A Comment on Responsible Voting and Protocol for a Useful Vote” essay from January 1997 (also in issue #6). So much awesome content to check out!
This content was originally written by the badass contributors of thebrpage.net, the best superfan resource and website that exists for any band, let alone the best band in the whole entire world. I’ve been lurking on that site for over 20 years and if you’re into Bad Religion as much as I am, I’m sure you’re familiar. If you are not, go there right now and never come back to this site again. You should, and I totally understand.
